Jeune Création — Performance Day
Sunday 13 May 2018, 2pm → 6pm
Curated by Sarah Trouche / Body and Artivism

The audience takes their seats in the salle magistrale, facing an empty stage. But the performance never happens there.
Scattered among the spectators, several accomplices each carry out a single gesture, unannounced and uncoordinated. A group of young people laugh loudly, trading jokes. An Uber Eats delivery gets handed over in the middle of the crowd. A phone rings, too loud to ignore. Other small disruptions unfold at intervals, with no build-up and no climax.
Attention drifts away from the stage and toward the seating itself, where the piece is actually happening. Noise, chance, and interruption, usually dismissed as distractions, become the material of the work, echoing John Cage's idea of letting environmental sound shape a composition. Silence, here, isn't the absence of noise. It's the feeling of waiting for something that never shows up where you're looking for it.
